Utah offers a plethora of fun activities to celebrate Halloween. From performances to trick-or-treating to themed animal exhibits, there’s no shortage of fun haunts on Oct. 31.

  1. The Haunted Aquarium

Where: Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, 12033 Lone Peak Pkwy, Draper
When: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Cost: $14.95–$19.95

Visit the sea creatures swimming among spooky Halloween decorations and enjoy fun events such as skeleton dives and trick-or-treating.

  1. Horror and Edgar Allen Poe

Where: The Harold B. Lee Library (HBLL) 1131
When: 1 p.m.
Cost: Free

Come listen to Dr. Carl Sederholm on our very own BYU campus discuss Edgar Allan Poe and the tradition of horror.

  1. Downtown Halloween Trick or Treating

Where: Downtown Provo, Center Street
When: 3 p.m.–6 p.m.

Take the kiddos trick-or-treating in a fun, safe environment down Provo’s historic Center Street.

  1. “Thriller”

Where: Tuacahn Amphitheatre, 1100 Tuacahn Dr., Ivins

This two-hour program is nothing short of spectacular. “Thriller” highlights all the creatures and spooks of Halloween in exciting dance numbers and amazing sets and costumes.

  1. Halloween Hoot at Tracy Aviary

Where: Tracy Aviary, 589 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City
When: 1–3:30 p.m.
Cost: $7.95–$11.95 (come in costume for half-price admission)

The Aviary has a lot of big plans for Halloween, including a bone-chilling bird show, ghostly roaming encounters, spooky storytime, crafts and facepainting.

Watch a silver screen showing of Hitchcock’s black and white classic about birds out to kill.

  1. Pumpkin Days at Wheeler Farm

Experience a Hay Maze, enjoy a wagon ride with the whole family and take home a pumpkin (price of pumpkin included in admission fee) at Wheeler Farm’s Pumpkin Days.

  1. Witchfest at Gardner Village

Where: Gardner Village
When: 11 a.m.–8 p.m.

The Gardner Villlage offers a palooza of witch-themed activities for both kids and adults.

  1. “Halloween” screenings at Megaplex Theatres

Where: Select Megaplex theatres throughout Utah

Cost: $6.75-$13.75

Experience the classic horror thriller “Halloween” on the big screen with a side of popcorn.

  1. Trick-or-Treat at Provo Towne Center

Where: 1200 Towne Centre Blvd., Provo
When: 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

Pick up a treat bag in the mall offices and look for every store with a pumpkin in the window – they’ll be handing out candy.

  1. “Forever Dead” musical

Where: The Off Broadway Theatre, 272 S. Main, Salt Lake City

This musical comedy features Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein and Mummy finding themselves stuck haunting the theater for eternity.

  1. Spooky Science at The Leonardo

Where: The Leonardo, 209 E. 500 S., Salt Lake City

Visit the museum’s three halls of terror in the Halloween-themed exhibit, where a little science can go a long way in explaining the spooky and the scary.

  1. Pumpkin Walk

Where: Highland City Town Center Splash Pad
When: 6:30–9:30 p.m.
Cost: Free

The city’s annual pumpkin walk includes hundreds of expertly carved pumpkins on display, trick-or-treating and free hot chocolate and cookies.
