BYU women’s soccer advances after win over Oklahoma

The BYU women’s soccer team won its second round game in the NCAA tournament, beating Oklahoma 2-1.

BYU’s Ashley Hatch scored in the 11th minute of the game to give BYU a early 1-0 lead and BYU maintained the lead into halftime.

In the 64th minute of the game BYU’s Michele Vasconcelos found the back of the net. Vasconcelos  dribbled down the field and placed the ball to the top left of the keeper. Vasconcelos gave BYU a 2-0 lead.

Oklahoma kept fighting and eventually scored in the 82nd minute of the game and put pressure on BYU.

BYU was able to hold off the Sooners in the final minutes of the game to move on into the third round of the tournament.

BYU will play the winner of South Carolina and Colorado on Nov. 19.
