The future schedules of BYU football are continuing to fill out with the announcement that the Cougars have scheduled the Minnesota Golden Gophers and extended the contract with the Utah Utes.

The Cougars and Golden Gophers will clash in 2020 at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Sept. 26, then the two schools will meet on Sept. 20, 2025 at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

“We’re excited to announce this series with Minnesota,” said BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe. “We’re always looking for opportunities to schedule storied programs like Minnesota. It will be a great experience for our coaches, players and fans to visit Big 10 country and we look forward to hosting the Gophers at LaVell Edwards Stadium.”

BYU and Minnesota have never played before on the gridiron and kickoff times will be released at a later date.

The Cougars also announced a contract signing with the University of Utah to add two more future football games. The series is now extended to 2022 and the schedule is as follows:

Utah at BYU on Sept. 9, 2017.

BYU at Utah on Nov. 24, 2018.

Utah at BYU on Aug. 29, 30 or 31, 2019.

BYU at Utah on Sept. 3, 4 or 5, 2020.

Utah at BYU on Sept. 11, 2021.

BYU at Utah on Sept. 3, 2022.

“BYU (vs) Utah is one of the great college rivalries in the country,” Holmoe said. “There’s a lot of history and tradition between the two schools and I’m glad we were able to extend the series through 2022. I’ve loved this rivalry as a player, coach and administrator and look forward to the future games.”

The Cougars and Utes have been playing football since 1922 and Utah owns a 56-34-1 advantage in the series, including wins in each of the last six games.
