BYU freshman libero Mary Lake has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.

Her defense in the back row propelled the No. 10 BYU women's volleyball team to win the Sports Imports D.C. Koehl Classic tournament.

Lake contribute a team high 10 digs, and an ace and three assists in the Cougars win over Wyoming. Later that day in a sweep against LIU Brooklyn, she added another team-high 13 digs, four assists and a match-high three aces.

In a five-set thriller comeback over No. 11 Ohio State Lake's 38 digs greatly assisted the Cougars in their victory. Her 38 digs were a career high and were the second-most digs ever collected in a single match in the BYU rally-scoring era.

For her assistance in the tournament sweep, Lake was named the Most Valuable Player of the invitationals as well as added to the all-tournament team.

This is Lake's first career weekly WCC honor and first for BYU this season.
