Summer is an ideal time for dates with longer days and more open schedules. However, dating doesn’t need to break the bank.

Here are some local favorites for affordable dating activities:

Classic Fun Center
250 S. State Street, Orem
Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight can be a date night of skating with two passes for the price of one ($8).

Mattson Heiner, a BYU junior and marketing intern at Classic Fun Center, said he thinks skating is a fun way to get to know someone on a date without breaking the bank.

“Skating breaks the ice,” Heiner said. “You can flow into the environment and be yourself.”

Adventuring at Bridal Veil Falls
Located up Provo Canyon (Hwy. 189), Provo
Many people hike this trail or have picnics at Bridal Veil Falls as the sun appears. There is even a pool of water filled with fish at the bottom of the falls and a fish food dispenser nearby. BYU junior Kenyon Anderson said Bridal Veil Falls is a great place to appreciate nature and bring dates.

“In spring and summer, the weather in Provo is completely beautiful,” Anderson said. “Walking on the trails gives you a great chance to get to know someone.”

Cinemark Movies 8
2230 University Parkway, Provo
Movie buffs can enjoy a movie at Cinemark Movies 8 every Tuesday for only $1.

Nickel City Fun Center
1515 S. State, Orem
Admission is only $2.25 each and all games run off of nickels. Nickel City is a blast-from-the-past arcade center and a great place to make memories.

Of course, activities are fun, but a date isn’t complete without food. Here are a few places in Provo with food deals:

Brick Oven

111 E. 800 North, Provo
Students can go to the Brick Oven website and use the promo code “collegeloyalty” to receive half off any size pizza on the College Loyalty menu.

Bruges Waffles & Frites
42 W. Center Provo
Students can choose a small frite with sauce or a waffle with crème fraîche for only $2 each on Tuesday from 4 -10 p.m.

BYU junior Malcolm Proudfit said he thinks the price and quality of the food at Bruges makes for great date food. 

“Their waffles are authentic, and it’s worth way more than $2,” Proudfit said. 

Del Taco
132 E. 1230 North Provo
Students can grab three regular soft or crunchy tacos for $1 on Tuesday from 3 – 11 p.m. BYU senior Wade Smallwood said he loves going to Del Taco.

“You don’t have the money to take a girl to the moon, but you always have enough for Taco Tuesday,” Smallwood said.

S’mores at the Riverwoods

There are several open fires scattered throughout the interior of the Riverwoods. BYU sophomore Aaron Esplin said he loves to bring supplies for s’mores and cook them on the small fires.

“I love how different and spontaneous this date can be,” Esplin said. “The best time to go is at night when you can watch the stars.”

Spoon It Up
840 N. 700 East, Provo
Students can bring a date for frozen yogurt and receive 20 percent off every Friday at Spoon It Up.

Pier 49 Pizza
3210 N. University Avenue, Provo
For those special Friday night dinner dates, students can show their student ID and receive cheesy breadsticks, one medium, two-topping pizza and a dessert pizza for $9.99.
