The force was strong at The Wall during the “May the 4th Be With You” event.
“The force is what makes the galaxy revolve. It is everything,” said Jaden Cowley, a member of The Wall’s event staff who dressed up as Darth Vader.
The event was created for fans and students alike. Those that wore Star Wars gear received 10 percent off their orders from the restaurant and The Wall created Yoda soda for the event. The green drink consisted of pineapple, vanilla, coconut, lemonade, with ginger ale as the base.
The first activity at the event was a competition to see who could draw the best droid. Participants used the chalkboard to display their skills, and the winner received a free meal from the Wall, as well as two bowling passes.
Star Wars karaoke followed a couple of hours later, but participants didn’t have to be dressed up to sing their favorite songs.
This was the first time Devin Jarvis, who is also a member of The Wall’s event staff, celebrated May the Fourth; he dressed up as Han Solo.
“I just kind of got lost in how fun it was,” said Jarvis.
“I really wanted to be Han Solo because I think he’s just the coolest character in Star Wars. I just like how witty he is. He’s just not afraid to get what he wants. He’s driven, he’s motivated. I feel like he discovers a lot about himself throughout the movies.”
Laurel Larsen, who dressed up as Princess Leia, saw May the Fourth as a really fun opportunity to dress up and celebrate Star Wars. Larsen mainly dressed up because she works at the Wall and she was helping to advertise the event.
Although she dressed up as Princess Leia, Larsen’s favorite character is Chewbacca.
“He’s just like this big guy, and he’s so hairy, and he’s so lovable while also being very intimidating,” Larsen said when describing Chewbacca. “I just think he’s amazing because he’s also a protector, but he’s also just a very interesting character because you know hardly anything about him, but he’s always there.”
Though May the Fourth is over, may the force still be with you.
