Sander leads No. 3 BYU past UC San Diego

No. 3 BYU defeated UC San Diego behind a career night from Brenden Sander at the RIMAC Arena Friday night.

“We need to come prepared for a tough match tomorrow,” said BYU head coach Shawn Olmstead. “We can improve and show a better mindset than we did tonight throughout the entire match tomorrow.”

Sander posted 16 kills and he also recorded seven digs.

Leo Durkin directed the offense with 37 assists and Michael Hatch contributed four blocks on defense. Ben Patch posted 14 kills on a .667 hitting percentage.

The Cougars aim to build momentum again, and climb back up the rankings, against UC San Diego tomorrow night at 7:00.
