Sitake finalizes BYU football support staff

BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake finalized the program’s support staff Wednesday afternoon, announcing the hirings of Jasen Ah You and Sione Kinikini.

Ah You will serve as the director of football athletic relations while Kinikini the director of player development. They join Jack Damuni, who was hired last week as the director of player personnel and on-campus recruiting coordinator.

Ah You will conduct with day-to-day football operations and work with both internal and external groups, such as academics, facilities, alumni and the NFL. He previously coached at the University of Utah, Snow College and most recently at Westlake High School. Ah You has also held management positions in business.

After graduating from BYU in 2004 with a degree in sociology, Ah You coached the defensive line at Snow College and then worked as a defensive administrative assistant at Utah from 2007-10. He coached the defensive line and worked with NFL players Paul Kruger, Derrick Shelby, Steven Paea, Sealver Siliga and Koa Misi.

He continues a tradition of BYU football in his family. Ah You’s father Charles played running back at BYU and his two brothers Matt and C.J. both played football for the Cougars. C.J. also played six years in the NFL.

Ah You served in the Guatemala City South and Texas San Antonio missions from 1992-1993. He and his wife Joann Kalauli have a son and daughter.

Kinikini will play a role in both recruiting and football operations as the director of player development. He worked as a player personnel assistant at the University of Utah form 2013-2015.

The Kearns, Utah, native attended West Jordan High School and graduated from Western Governors University. Kinikini worked for over a decade at Delta Airlines and spent some time as an operational shift manager, where he managed hiring and other projects.

Kinikini served in the New York New York North mission. He and his wife Mele have five children.
