Ken Niumatalolo has declined BYU’s offer to become the Cougars’ next head coach, deciding instead to remain at Navy. Niumatalolo confirmed his decision on ESPN’s College GameDay.

Niumatalolo came to Provo on Monday to tour BYU’s campus and facilities.

FootballScoop reported Wednesday morning that Oregon State defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake would become the Cougars’ new head coach were Niumatalolo to stay with the Midshipmen .

Sitake played running back at BYU in 1994 and 1997-2000. He served as the University of Utah’s defensive coordinator from 2009-2014 before joining Gary Anderson’s staff at Oregon State as the defensive coordinator in 2015.
