Three BYU women’s volleyball players have been named to the Academic All-West Coast Conference teams.

Amy Boswell and Whitney Young Howard were both named to the first team. Boswell, who is currently studying nursing with a 3.9 GPA, averages 1.4 blocks per set with a .378 hitting average. This is not her first academic award this year as she was awarded Academic All-District 8 honors earlier on. Boswell was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I First Team. Qualifications for this honor are a minimum of a 3.30 GPA, be an important starter or reserve for the team, be a sophomore or higher in school and have played in 50 percent of her team’s matches.

Howard, who like Boswell, plays middle blocker, averages 1.24 blocks per set being second in most blocks per set just behind Boswell. Despite the many hours of volleyball, Howard is still able to maintain an impressive 3.69 GPA.

In addition to Boswell and Howard’s awards, Ciara Parker was named an Academic All-West Coast Conference honorable mention. Parker averages 4.03 digs per set, making her fourth in the WCC.

All three players have received academic awards from the WCC before. Boswell was named first team last year. Howard was named an honorable mention last year and Parker was named to the first team as a sophomore.
