Seven BYU women’s soccer players receive academic honors

Seven BYU women’s soccer players received academic honors this week. Two were named to the WCC All-Academic Team while five received honorable mentions.

All-Academic honors require student-athletes to achieve at least a cumulative 3.20 GPA while also contributing to the team on the field.

Senior Sarah Chambers Gardner, majoring in chemical engineering, and sophomore Bizzy Phillips, majoring in chemistry education, were named to to the 2015 WCC All-Academic Team. Gardner has a 3.88 GPA while Phillips a 3.98 GPA. The All-Academic Team is mostly comprised of seniors and juniors, while Phillips is just one of two sophomores named to the team. This is Phillips’ first All-Academic honor and Gardner’s third.

Juniors Paige Hunt, Elena Medeiros, Michele Murphy Vasconcelos, Ashley Hatch and sophomore Stephanie Ringwood received All-Academic Honorable Mention awards. This is the third time for all four juniors to receive All-Academic awards and Ringwood’s first.
