BYU women’s volleyball team defeats Loyola Marymount University

The BYU women’s volleyball team sent the LMU Lions home empty handed after winning 3-1.

The Cougars have never lost a game to the Lions. This latest win makes it the Cougars 11th win overall.

Top scorers of the night were Cosy Burnett with 12 kills, Alexa Gray with 12 kills and Amy Boswell with 9 kills. Top defenders were Ciara Parker with 16 digs and Boswell with 6 block assists.

“It feels good knowing that the things you’re working on are working,” Burnet said from a previous game.

The game started off extremely tight between the two teams. The Lions came out on top during the first set with a score of 25-22. The Cougars took the second set 25-19.

The third set was battled out point by point. The lead jumped back and forth between the two teams. But the Cougars were able to win the third set 25-21.

The fourth and final set of the game was won by Cougars with a score of 25-19.

The BYU women’s volleyball team will compete against San Diego on Friday, Oct. 2 at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
