A wildfire is burning near Deer Creek Reservoir. Traffic was backed up on UT-189 Provo Canyon Highway.

Wasatch County undersheriff Jared Rigby said the fire may have started from an OHV near Canyon Meadows subdivision just west of Deer Creek Reservoir.

Officials said the fire covered approximately 100 acres at 6:00 pm and was moving to the northeast.

“Both ground crews and air support are working to get the fire under control. They are really scrambling to get ahead of it and on top of it,” said Rigby.

Crews from both the Wasatch fire district and the state have been involved. According to Fox 13 News four engines, two air tankers, and a helicopter were called to the scene.

Officials reported that roads are closed from Sundance to American Fork Canyon, American Fork Canyon to Cascade Springs and from Cascade Springs to Midway.

Campgrounds near Cascade Springs and Deer Creek Reservoir have been evacuated. The closest homes are in Cascade Meadows subdivision and no homes have been evacuated.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire and currently there are no known injuries.
