NBA: The Minnesota Timberwolves kicked off the draft by picking Kentucky freshman Karl-Anthony Towns; the Los Angeles Lakers followed with D’Angelo Russell; and the Philadelphia 76ers grabbed Jahlil Okafor. Free agency is set to start July 1. Some of those set to hit the market are LeBron James, Kevin Love, Kawhi Leonard, Marc Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge, Jimmy Butler and many more. It is expected that Love and James will return to Cleveland, and the Mavs, Spurs and Lakers are all making a serious run at Aldridge.

NHL: To no surprise, the Edmonton Oilers picked Conner McDavid for the first spot in the draft. The Boston Bruins made a surprising trade and dealt Milan Lucic to the Los Angeles Kings for the 13 pick, and Boston had three consecutive picks with 13, 14 and 15.

MLB: Miami Marlins star Giancarlo Stanton will be out four to six weeks with a broken bone in his left hand. He currently leads all hitters with 27 home runs. It looked like Stanton tweaked his hand in the bottom of the fifth inning and aggravated it even more in the bottom of the ninth. Stanton’s teammate Dee Gordon leads the League with a .353 batting average. Pirates’ pitcher Gerrit Cole has the most wins, with 11.

NFL: Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wants to get paid. His agent said Wilson wants to be the highest-paid player in the NFL. Currently Aaron Rogers is the highest-paid player for average annual salary, at $22 million, and Drew Brees has the highest minimum salary, at $18.75 million.
