Matt Underwood led BYU men’s volleyball to beat Cal State University Northridge 3-0 for the second night in a row April 11.

Underwood led the night with 17 kills; Tyler Heap had 32 assists; and Jaylen Reyes kept the ball alive with 10 digs.

Back-to-back kills from Underwood gave the Cougars the advantage to start the first set. The two teams battled during the set, but three Matador errors gave BYU the set 26-24.

CSUN took an early lead in the second, but consecutive kills from Underwood again helped BYU tie things up. This continued for the rest of the set, as the Matadors would jump out to a bigger lead. But the Cougars were able to catch up. Ultimately kills and a block from Kiril Meretev put BYU in the lead and gave it the close set 25-23.

BYU started the third set behind Cal State Northridge again, but several kills from Underwood kept the Cougars in the lead, which led the Cougars to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
