The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched a social media Easter initiative to invite people around the world to learn about Jesus Christ’s Atonement. The campaign will run from Saturday, March 28, to Sunday, April 5.

The First Presidency of the Church encouraged members to get involved via their social media accounts using the hashtag #BecauseHeLives. The First Presidency sent an email March 29 to introduce the campaign.

The Church also launched a website that features a video that mentions many things Jesus makes possible through the Atonement. The video is available in 21 languages and will be featured on YouTube’s homepage in nine countries on April 5, according to mormonnewsroom.org.

BYU communications professor Robert Walz helped pioneer the social media testimony movement in his capacity as the Provo YSA 18th Stake first counselor.

“These tools, I believe, the Lord has created for us in the latter days to help reach out to the entire world, and we can do this in any language,” Walz said.

According to Mormon Newsroom, this initiative is “expected to reach millions through social media, month-long displays in select visitors’ centers, member and missionary tools and online paid promotion on hundreds of Internet sites.”
