LAS VEGAS — We all saw this coming.

This project started as a way to pay tribute to the amazing mascots of the West Coast Conference, because they truly are incredible. We have classic fan-favorites in the form of a tiger, lion and bulldog, but we also also have nontraditional mascots like a wave, a steamboat pilot and a bullfighter (torero).

But we all knew from the start that this was always going to be a competition for second place. Despite our best efforts to involve the other schools’ organizations, BYU’s Cosmo the Cougar was destined to be crowned the champion. In fact, we even thought about leaving him out of the game entirely. We didn’t want fans to just vote for their favorite school, but we hoped to see who they actually thought was the coolest mascot.

Our hats go off to all the WCC mascots. Athletics in our conference would never be the same without the enjoyment you add to the games.

Congratulations to Diego Torero for making it to the championship. “You da real MVP!”
