Police warn about holiday deliveries after theft

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — With the holiday shopping season underway, police in South Salt Lake are warning people to be careful with deliveries after a man watched on video as packages were stolen from his home.

Police said Wednesday the victim saw the theft on a feed from a home surveillance camera about an hour after the package was delivered.

Investigators are searching for the thief, who they say appears to have seen the items when he was walking by, scooped them up and left.

South Salt Lake Police spokesman Gary Keller says that as more people do their shopping online they should ask neighbors to intercept their parcels, have them delivered to the office or ask delivery people to hold them until they’re at home.
