SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Several gun-control groups plan to deliver a petition to Gov. Gary Herbert on Friday in opposition to Utah laws that bar universities from keeping guns off their campuses.

The Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah, MomsRising.org, and The Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus all plan to hold a news conference Friday morning outside Herbert’s office.

The petition follows the cancellation last month of a speech by feminist speaker Anita Sarkeesian at Utah State University.

Sarkeesian canceled her speech after learning the school would allow concealed firearms despite an anonymous threat against her.
