Police ask for help in search for suspicious male in Provo

At approximately 8:25 a.m., a 9-year-old boy was approached by an older male while he was walking to Sunset View Elementary, according to the police’s Facebook page. The older male grabbed the boy by the arm, but the boy was able to break loose and run home. The incident happened around 380 S. 1600 West in Provo.

The suspect is described as a white male, average height and weight with black hair slicked back into a mullet-style haircut. He was wearing a light blue, long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes. An age description was not given.

The police say they are actively investigating the situation and urged parents to properly educate their children on stranger awareness. They asked residents to contact Provo Dispatch at 801-852-6210 with any information on the suspect or suspicious activity in the area.
