musicians spent June competing for a spot in the 2014 Stadium of Fire. Winners open for headliner Carrie Underwood as well as play their original music in front of an audience of close to 50,000 people.

The Gigg website claims that “Gigg is focused on discovering the greatest musicians in the world while allowing fan participation in the discovery process.”

This new way of discovering artists allows anyone to gain exposure for their music.

In the contest, done bracket-style, artists received votes from judges and fans through the Gigg website and social media. The artist with the most votes advanced to compete in the next round. Provo favorite Mimi Knowles was named the 2014 winner.

Stadium of Fire has been known to open the stage to the lucky artists who win the competition for years. The 2013 show featured Provo band We Are the Strike, who opened for Kelly Clarkson. The exposure has allowed the band to launch an album and perform all over Utah.
