Hokulia Shave Ice is an authentic Hawaiian snow cone shack with a goal to give customers a premium shave ice experience. Diving into this Hawaiian oasis is an ideal way to soak up the sun this summer.

Location

Hokulia is located at 1437 N. Canyon Road in Provo, just west of the Helaman Halls dorms. It is open Monday–Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.

Prices

Hokulia Shave Ice ranges in price from $2 to $10, depending on size. Add-ins range from an additional 25 cents to $1.

Most popular

Hokulia’s most popular flavor is called Dakine. It consists of tiger’s blood and blue Hawaii, and its name literally means “the best” in Hawaiian. The second most popular flavor is the Kona Sunset, which includes mango, guava and passion fruit.

Interesting fact

Owners Clint and Stefani Severson started Hokulia six years ago with only one location in Provo. They have now franchised 27 shacks in Utah and more than 30 shacks across the country, with the farthest away being in Alaska.

What the owner says

“Our biggest goal is quality above and beyond anything,” said Clint Severson, owner of Hokulia Shave Ice. “We use 100 percent pure cane sugar. We use premium, high-quality ice cream in the middle. Everything we use, even down to the ice, is made especially for us. Everything we do is focused around making sure we have the absolute best.”

Pro tips

When trying Hokulia for the first time, owner Clint Severson said, “You’ve gotta try it with ice cream and snow cap. That’s the true Hawaiian way.”
