More than 7,000 BYU students learned how to use technology and social media to share the gospel at the LDS Share Expo March 31.

The expo’s festivities began with guest speakers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BYU and the MoreGoodFoundation. They shared various resources that make sharing the gospel online easy to do. In a presentation called “The Sealed Portion,” Ben Arkell said all efforts to share the gospel over social media are worth it.

“Every click, comment, share, post, tweet, upload and view has the potential to change a life,” Arkell said. “We need more people willing to add and support quality content.”

Fernando Camilo, who does social media for the LDS Church, said sharing the gospel with friends and family is easy.

“We are just a few clicks away from bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the billions,” Camilo said.

Attendees went to booths set up for the most popular social networks to learn how to use each specific platform to share the gospel. Nick Pericle, a statistical science major, enjoyed how interactive the LDS Share Expo was.

“It was going to each booth and participating in the activities,” Pericle said. “What I enjoyed most was getting on my iPhone at each booth and sharing the gospel right there on the spot.”

Based on the attendance and positive reviews of this year’s event, there may even be a LDS Share Expo next year.

“We are already looking forward to the second annual YSA, LDS Share Expo,” said associate professor Robert Walz, who organized the event.
