There were two more reported instances of groping on BYU campus on March 19, 2014, according to BYU police.

The suspect of both cases was described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was reported to be clean-looking with a thin build and dirty blonde spiked hair in one of these cases.

There have been a total of eleven reports of sexual offense on BYU campus since January.

Today’s cases happened only days after the incident on Mar. 18 where a man entered a Wyview apartment in the middle of the night and sexually fondled the female resident before fleeing the scene.

“All of [these] incidents are very similar in behavior, targets and descriptions,” University Police Lt. Lemmon said.

However, police are still investigating whether it is the same person.

Recent reports of groping have taken place during the day in the presence of witnesses, something that shows the perpetrator is getting “a little more bold,” Lemmon said.

He said at this point, the best form of defense is awareness.

“Just be aware of your environment,” he said. “Use your street smarts; just be safe.”

He also urged any other victims of sexual offenses to report it to the police.

“The more information we can get, the higher the probability is that we can identify who is doing this,” he said.

If anyone has information on any of these cases or other incidences of sexual offense, call University Police at (801) 422-2222.
