Holiday programs at the Provo City Library

All are invited to come celebrate the holidays at the Provo City Library. The library will offer a series of free holiday performances Mondays in December.

Dec. 2: Utah Valley Handbell Ringers (Ballroom)

Ring in the holiday season with this Provo City Library annual tradition! The Utah Valley Handbell Ringers perform with 56 bells cast in bronze or aluminum, each tuned to a single note. When rung together, they produce melodies full of rich overtones.

There are two segments to the concert: from 6:30 to 7 p.m., the choir will present a program especially for young children. From 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., they will perform a concert designed for an adult audience.

Dec. 9: Holiday Sing-Along with The Utah Baroque Ensemble (7:00, Ballroom)

The Utah Baroque Ensemble, founded in 1987, is the only choir of its kind in Utah. The select 34-voice community choir offers audiences the opportunity to hear high-quality live performances of Baroque and contemporary music. In this program they’ll mix in some of your holiday favorites and a few sing-along numbers!

Dec. 16: Drum Labs Steel Band (7:00, Ballroom)

Celebrate the season with a bang in this concert from the Drum Labs Steel Band featuring energetic holiday music with some island flair! Located in Pleasant Grove and serving all areas of Utah Valley, Drum Labs offers a variety of ensembles and steel bands.

Dec. 23: “A Christmas Carol” with Dane Allred (7:00, Room 309)

It’s “A Christmas Carol” like you’ve never seen it before! Many Christmases ago, Charles Dickens would perform a one-man telling of his classic holiday tale, doing all the voices himself. Today, drama teacher Dane Allred recreates that experience with Dickens’ original script. Using all of his vocal range, Allred will perform more than 20 voices, letting the audience use their imaginations to create their own versions of Dickens’ classic characters.
