The Marriott Center: The evolution of a BYU basketball game at the nation’s fourth largest arena

196

The Marriott Center, home of BYU basketball, is feared by opponents as one of the toughest venues to play a basketball game. The Marriott Center, which can hold up to 22,700 people making it the fourth largest arena in the nation, averaged 15,988 fans during the 2012-2013 season, giving BYU the 13th-best home attendance average in the nation. This wonderful venue gives BYU a financial and competitive advantage over other schools in the West Coast Conference. The next largest arena in the WCC is Gonzaga’s McCarthey Athletic Center which can hold 6,000 people.
