Election season is underway, and mayoral and city council candidates are ready to voice their opinions on issues facing the city of Provo.

The Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a debate for both the mayoral and city council candidates on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The debate will take place at the Provo City Council Chambers located at 351 West Center St. at 7 p.m.

Incumbent Mayor John Curtis will be taking on Jason Christensen, a sales associate from Extreme Auto, in Wednesday’s debate. Curtis won 84 percent of the vote in the primary election held in August, while Christensen won 6.94 percent of the vote, beating the next runner-up, Howard Stone, by a mere 0.6 percent.

The debate will also be televised on Provo Channel 17 and will be available on provo.org. Provo City will be holding general elections on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
