No. 24 volleyball faces Santa Clara and San Francisco

The Cougars return home to the Smith Fieldhouse to battle conference foes Santa Clara on Oct. 10 and San Francisco on Oct. 12.

Last week on the road, BYU beat Pepperdine in a four-set victory and Loyola Marymount in a tough five-set victory.

With an improving record 12-3 (5-0 WCC), the Cougars are now ranked No. 24 in the AVCA Coaches poll. BYU remains the only undefeated team in the West Coast Conference and looks to build on its 20-game home winning streak.

The Cougars face the Santa Clara Broncos (7-7, 2-3 WCC) on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. This will be the sixth matchup between the two schools, and BYU leads the overall series 4-1.

In 2012, the Broncos finished 20-12 (9-7 WCC) and fourth in conference play.

The Cougars will then face the San Francisco Dons (7-8, 3-2 WCC) on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. BYU leads the overall series against San Francisco 6-0.

In 2012, the Dons finished 16-13 (7-9 WCC).
