The Harold B. Lee Library will continue its House of Learning lecture series on Oct. 3 with a presentation about the life of Beatrix Potter, who is best known as the author of “The Tale of Peter Rabbit.”

Leslee Thorne-Murphy, an assistant professor in the BYU English Department, will present the lecture titled “From Peter Rabbit to Herdwick Sheep: The Life and Art of Beatrix Potter.”

“Professor Thorne-Murphy is one of the Victorian literature experts in the English department at BYU and is very familiar with the Victorian lit collection here in Special Collections,”  said Maggie Kopp, curator of European books for the L. Tom Perry Special Collections. “Even though Potter published her books after the Victorian period, she got her artistic training as a young woman during the Victorian era.”

The lecture will begin at 2 p.m. in the library auditorium on the first floor. Attendance is open to the public and free.
