The second Old Nauvoo dance night will be held on Friday, Sept. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Joseph F. Smith Building courtyard.

According to the Education in Zion Gallery, Colleen West, professor in the BYU department of dance, has been invited to teach 1830s-style dance to attendees. Those who attend will learn an entire dance, from beginning to end, from the Old Nauvoo era.

This event gives an opportunity to keep the tradition of dancing alive in Latter-day Saint culture. It is also an opportunity to meet new people or bring a date!

“A lot of people have always wondered what Nauvoo dances were like,” said Jacob Bromley, who attended last year’s Old Nauvoo dance. “It’s a good opportunity to be a part of that, to pretend you’re in Old Nauvoo.”

Admission for the event is free.
