BYUtv’s first original series Granite Flats recently announced its second season. Filmed entirely in Utah, the show received positive reviews nationally and quickly became BYUtv’s most-watched show.

The series will begin filming in the next few weeks, and will hit airwaves in the spring. This season, viewers can look forward to eight new one-hour episodes during the prime time block.

Granite Flats is a coming-of-age drama set in the 1960s mountain-west town of Granite Flats, Colo. The show takes authentic aspects of 1960s small-town life and adds a sci-fi twist, keeping audiences engaged.

“BYUtv’s first foray into producing a scripted series surpassed all of our expectations, and Granite Flats has attracted more viewers than any other program in the network’s history,” Derek Marquis, executive producer of Granite Flats and Managing Director of BYUtv, said.

Fans of the breakout show’s first season express excitement with the announcement of the second season.

“(The show has) just enough mystery and action to keep me coming back each week for more,” said Deborah Paulukaitis, a fan of the show from Atlanta, Ga.
