Burglary

Provo Police arrested a man accused of breaking into a business at 3179 N. Canyon Road during the early hours of June 21.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man, who is in Utah County Jail on suspicion of burglary of a business, a third-degree felony, after police say he forced his way into the business after breaking a window with a hammer.

Investigators also believe the man had earlier burglarized the Rock Canyon Pharmacy.

According to police reports, the man was turned in by a nurse at the Orem Community Hospital Emergency Room. The nurse called police after treating wounds the suspect allegedly suffered by making contact with broken glass from the business’ window.

Police say the man originally claimed his injuries were stab wounds, but he was seen breaking into the business on surveillance footage.

He is also being held under suspicion of filing a false police report, criminal mischief and interfering with arrest, all Class B misdemeanors.

Theft

June 5 A package was reported stolen from a secured room in the Talmage Building about 9 a.m. An investigation is ongoing.

June 12 An individual reported that a longboard was taken at the Eyring Science Center about 6 p.m.

June 13 Textbooks were reported stolen from a classroom in the Eyring Science Center about 5 p.m.

June 14 An individual reported a stolen iPod Touch at the Cannon Center shortly after 9 a.m.

June 18 An iPhone was reported stolen at the Smith Fieldhouse about 3:30 p.m. The phone has been listed on a national database, and an investigation is ongoing.

Disorderly Conduct

June 13 A complaint was filed concerning individuals tossing a football between floors at the Tanner Building just before 11 p.m. No damage occurred.
