BYU softball will be hosted by No. 3 seed Oregon in the Eugene Regional on Thursday at 6 p.m. PDT at the Howe Field.

The Cougars won 16 of its 17 regular season games and won the Pacific Coast Softball Conference, earning them a bid to their ninth-straight postseason. They played in the Eugene Regional last year, but were ultimately eliminated after losing twice to the Ducks. BYU is 3–6 overall against Oregon and have yet to beat them at their home field.

BYU senior JC Clayton recently suffered an injury in the Deseret First Duel against Utah. Clayton is a prominent leader on the team and a huge contributor, but her playing status for the regional is still undetermined due to the ongoing evaluation of her injury.

This will be a double-elimination tournament, and the winner will advance to the NCAA Super Regional. Each winner of the three-series Super Regional will continue on to play in the 2013 Women’s College World Series.
