Beginning Monday, May 13 and going through May 28, Patagonia Footwear and Kirkhams Outdoor Products will donate $30 to Splore for every pair of Patagonia shoes purchased at the retailer.

Splore put out a news release on Thursday, May 9 detailing its partnership with Patagonia and Kirkhams.

“Few purchase benefit programs are as generous as this effort,” said Janine Donald, Executive Director of Splore, in the news release. “It’s really refreshing to see companies take a bold stand to support their communities.”

Splore is a local non-profit outdoor adventure organization that has been a leader in providing outdoor adventures to individuals of ranging abilities.

“[Splore is] dedicated to providing life-changing outdoor adventures for people with disabilities and disadvantages,” said Lindsay Malone, Marketing Director of Splore. “Our goal is to remove any barriers people have to getting outdoors, whether physical, cognitive, financial or social.”

Splore gets individuals involved in a wide range of outdoor adventures which include canoeing, white water rafting, rock climbing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. According to the news release, Splore served 2530 clients in their Salt Lake City and Moab locations during 2012. Individuals served included children with autism, adults with mental illness, teens in treatment and veterans, just to name a few.

Malone assures that the $30 for each pair of Patagonia shoes from Kirkhams will be put to good use.

“Funds raised primarily go to support our adventure programs by providing scholarships for groups and individuals with financial need,” Malone said, “as well as funding operational costs from vehicle maintenance to guide training to marketing materials.”

Splore provides a number of opportunities to get involved. It is always looking for groups and individuals to join them in their outdoor adventures. Splore welcomes donors of monetary or in-kind gifts which could include gear and apparel as well as office supplies.

The workers and volunteers at Splore are in the business of making dreams come true. They are helping individuals do things that many people may tell them they cannot do, and it is a cause very worth supporting. Patagonia and Kirkhams has provided an easy way for buyers to support this organization and local community.

Kirkhams is located at 3125 S. State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84115.
