LOS ANGELES — The BYU men’s volleyball team will take on UC-Irvine for the NCAA championship tonight at 6 p.m. PDT at Pauley Pavilion on the campus of UCLA.

The Cougars are led by all-Americans Taylor Sander and Ben Patch and are coming off a sweep of fourth-seeded Penn State. BYU won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference tournament last weekend, earning the No. 1 seed in this week’s final-four tournament.

The Anteaters are the defending NCAA champions and received an at-large bid to the final four as the second seed. They are led by all-Americans Kevin Tillie and Michael Brinkley.

BYU won both matches against UCI this season. Patch had a school-record 35 kills in the teams’ last meeting. The Cougars hold a 41-12 all-time record against the Anteaters. BYU has won three national championships, its most recent in 2004.
