The BYU rugby team leaves for Nevada for the second time this season, this time to battle against Texas A&M.

The Aggies and Cougars have met in 2009 and 2010 with BYU winning both games. The game will be held in Las Vegas during the USA Sevens’ Las Vegas Invitational. In the past this invitational has meant multiple games for BYU, but this year Texas A&M will be the only match for the Cougars.

BYU prop Mikey Su’a gets ready for a scrum during last season’s game against Arizona State at South Stadium. BYU defeated ASU 80-0.

“I am looking forward to a good game,” sophomore fullback Ryan Blaser said. “It is a fun atmosphere with all the sevens games going on. I’m looking forward to it.”

This will be the Cougars’ fifth away game in a row and there will be two more away games before Provo gets to see the team in action on a home field.

“It is all weather related, but it brings the team closer together and builds team chemistry,” BYU head coach David Smyth said. “And when we come home it makes it that much more special.”

BYU has a total of 10 away games this season, two were already canceled due to weather but the other four have ended with wins for the Cougars.

BYU and Texas A&M face off at 8:20 a.m. PST on Saturday.
