Free snow shovels for helping hands

The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Murray is giving away 100 snow shovels on Wednesday, Jan. 30, as part of a campaign to help those who can’t shovel their own walks.

“We treat a lot of people, especially this winter season, that have injured their backs while shoveling the snow,” TOSH spokesman Jess Gomez said. “We thought this would be a great idea to help those who can’t shovel their own walks.”

The shovel giveaway will happen at TOSH, 5770 S. 300 East in Murray, at 10:30 a.m. TOSH specialists will be giving away the shovels to those willing to pledge to help neighbors who can’t shovel their own walks, and they will also be talking about how to prevent back injuries while shoveling snow.

Gomez said, “Somebody can get a really nice free shovel and then you sign a pledge to help someone in your neighborhood.”
