BYU in top 5 of No. 1 basketball recruit.

The nation’s number one basketball recruit, Jabari Parker, has included BYU on his list of five schools he will choose from sometime in November.

ESPN analyst, Scott Powers, was among the first to break the word on Friday and reported Parker’s list includes: Duke, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford along with BYU.

Parker is expected to use the five official visits he is given to visit each school. He has already, unofficially, made visits to various schools including BYU.

Some BYU fans fear Parker has BYU on his list because of his Mormon faith, but according to what Parker’s high school coach, Robert Smith, told Powers that is not the case.

“He is really thinking about BYU. I know his faith has a lot to do with it,” Smith said. “The coaching staff has been great with him. They’ve been a winning program. That’s one of his choices.”

The waiting game continues, but BYU is still right in the mix.
