Stephen R. Covey dies at age 79

Stephen R. Covey, a former Brigham Young University business professor, has passed away at the age of 79, sources have reported.

Covey died early Monday morning at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls from the residual effects of a bicycle accident in April, his family said.

Covey is best known for authoring the book series “7 Habits for Highly Effective People,” a motivational book that has sold more than 20 million copies and has been printed in over 38 languages.

Covey earned a graduate degree from BYU after earning a bachelors degree in business administration at the University of Utah and a MBA from Harvard University.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, nine children and 52 grandchildren.
