Celebrate the Fourth of July the healthy way

The Fourth of July for many brings lots of chip dipping and soda drinking, but there is a new and healthy way to celebrate this Independence Day.

To learn how to eat healthier, there is the Red, White and BBQ Food and Nutrition workshop at the Habitat for Humanity in Orem on Saturday,  June 30 at 11 a.m.

This workshop is being put on by the local green nutrition company IM Nutrition. Isabel Mejia, a nutritionist and community health educator from IM Nutrition, wants to teach the community the positives of healthy eating and living.

“I use positive nutrition to help people achieve their health goals,” Mejia said. “When you focus on why a food is good for you, you are more willing to eat it.”

This event is $25 per person or $45 per couple, and seating is limited. The workshop is a great place to get professional advice, especially since Mejia said typically to meet with a health educator the price can range from $150-$300 an hour.
