Three BYU students won awards in the Wiffleball Home Run Derby on Wednesday.
The BYU Student Activities Board hosted the competition in Brigham Square and more than 29 BYU students competed for awards, including most home runs and longest home run. Kevin Kindred, a former SAB employee, pitched at the derby for the second year.
Ty Cammack won the award for most home runs while Grant Boren and Jamie Kim won awards for most home runs. The winners were awarded Jamba Juice gift cards.
“There was some pretty fierce competition,” Boren said. “When you compete at this level, it could be anyone’s game.”
Some of the competing students, like Whitney Hollingsworth, participated in the derby as part of a group date.
“We’re going to evaluate each other’s athletic ability and see how well we can hit this wiffleball,” Hollingsworth said.
The SAB hosts activities a throughout each month. The next SAB activity will be the Acoustic Explosion on May 30.
