This weekend, BYU’s Harris Fine Arts Center will host the youth show “Fancy Nancy & Other Story Books.”

Theaterworks USA, a New York-based theater company, will present six “mini-musicals” based off of popular children story-books such as, “Fancy Nancy,” “Duck for President,” and “Leonardo, The Terrible Monster.”

“They’re a lot of fun stories that children will already know and probably have read,” said Jeff Martin, producer of the BYU performing arts series. “Now they will just see them acted out on stage.”

During the spring and summer months, the HFAC gears many of its shows toward the audiences of the future and the young families at BYU.

“We want to support our family audience and we want to provide enriching arts experiences for children and families at an affordable price,” Martin said.

“Fancy Nancy & Other Story Books” will be performed Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. as well as Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. Tickets are $6-8  and may be purchased at www.byuarts.com.
