On May 4, Chen Guancheng, a blind Chinese activist, was granted permission to leave China and study in the United States. This was after Chen escaped from house arrest and travelled 300-miles to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

Activists across the globe have spoken out against injustices for centuries. Often their opinions clash with social norms.

Why is the ability to dissent important? What happens when we disagree with those opinions? Who are some of your favorite activists and why?
