Amy Petersen Jensen, chairwoman of the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, will speak Tuesday at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center for a BYU campus devotional.

It will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV (Channel 11), BYUtv, KBYU-FM (89.1), BYU-Radio and at byutv.org, as well as on campus in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium and the Varsity Theatre in the Wilkinson Student Center. For rebroadcast and reprint information, visit byutv.org or speeches.byu.edu.

Jensen has been on the faculty at BYU since 2000 and her research focuses on how young people form identity in a digital media culture as well as how educators might engage young people through media literacy.

Jensen is first vice-president of the National Association for Media Literacy Education, co-editor of the Journal of Media Literacy Education and serves on the editorial board for the Youth Theatre Journal. In 2009, Jensen received the BYU Young Scholar Award.

The former public school teacher received both her bachelor’s degree in theater arts education and her master’s degree in theater and film at BYU after which she received her doctorate in theater history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
