Letter: Duckling escape hatch?

113

Anyone have any idea how baby ducks are supposed to get out of the fancy new duck pond? Turtles can dig (which they’ll need to do when their population outgrows the size of the pond), and adult ducks can fly out obviously, but it doesn’t look like baby ducks can get out to where they do a lot of their eating and sleeping. Either the ducks will take a hike or we’ll create a wonderful object lesson for teaching children about the circle of life.

So, in the interest of preserving our waterfowl heritage for future generations, I hope this letter reaches someone who can do something about it. My real question is this: why did someone build a duck pond that doesn’t accommodate ducks?
