Congressman Pete Hoekstra ran an ad during the Super Bowl that claimed Debbie Stabenow, another senator, was allowing China to take jobs away from Americans.
Numerous critics, including people from Hoekstra's camp, said this advertisement is in very poor taste. One example is California representative Judy Chu. She was interviewed on CNN and she condemned the advertisement.
Hoekstra defended his message and said the commercial addresses inefficient economic policies and America's enormous debt, not stereotypes about Asians.
There always seems to be numerous controversial advertisements during the Super Bowl, a popular time for advertisers to show off their product in a big way. This year was no different.
Another advertisement that stirred up heated discussion was the Chrysler commercial featuring Clint Eastwood. Those offended said it seems to be advocating the Washington auto bailout and President Barack Obama's policies.
