For those staying in Provo this summer, the Parks and Recreation Department has just made it easier to figure out where you want to have that picnic you will plan.
The online park finder shows parks that apply specifically to the activities they want by using filters to pick things such as basketball courts, grills, picnic tables and even horseshoe stations. There is also a map that shows where each park is located.
Provo Parks and Recreation also has many activities residents can participate in, including community classes and service projects.
Kari Van Wagner, Provo recreation division office assistant, said the department created the site using the city’s satellite mapping program, and helps people who aren’t sure which of more than40 parks that the city has best meets their needs.
“We would get calls where people were trying to make reservations with different requests,” Van Wagner said. To help the public find the park that was best for their family or ward activity, we created this program. It has been great for us because they can direct the people who aren’t familiar with the park to the website, so they can call back with a better idea.”
The park finder is accessible at parkfinder.provo.org. Reservations and inquiries can be made by calling 801-852-6600.
