Letter: Blinker Stinker

106

Have you ever been stopped at a green light waiting to turn left and can’t turn because someone decided not to use their blinker?  Then you find yourself waiting a whole other stoplight cycle before you can continue on your way.

Not using your blinker endangers yourself and those around you.  On a busy street, people driving and people walking need to know what you next move is going to be.  That’s the point of a blinker.  Think of how many accidents could be avoided by simply using your blinker.

There are many campus events that produce horrendous traffic.  Traffic flow would significantly improve if people would use their blinkers.  People not utilizing their blinkers only fuels the fire of road rage. Great. Just what we need-more angry drivers.  How much thought, energy, and strength does it take to flip on your blinker? No one likes a ticket, but the only way to help people understand the importance of using their blinkers is to increase police enforcement.

It takes more effort to smile than it does to use your blinkers.  Smile less; use your blinkers more.
