BYU’s football season may be coming to an end but its a new beginning for the seniors on the team. From marriage to the NFL, each senior has a different idea of where they want to go from here.

Playing BYU football is a huge commitment and once a players four years of eligibility is up, they head off to pursue different goals and dreams.

“I’m engaged and I am getting married Dec. 17, so I am really excited about that,”  tight end Matthew Edwards said.

Edwards graduated last April and is in graduate school right now studying to become a coach. Along with getting married, he will be able to focus more on his graduate classes once the season ends.

But some players are hoping to continue their football dream.

“Hopefully after the season I sign with an agent,” running back JJ Di Luigi said. “Then we’ll see what happens come pro days and things like that. You gotta have a really good pro day, and if the scouts like you, they’ll take you.”

Di Luigi says that if things don’t work out with the football career, he’ll work toward another dream of becoming a firefighter.

Other football seniors are looking forward to life’s simple pleasures they have been skipping out on because of football.

“It seems like a lot of times we are here in the summers working out, and sometimes I missed family vacations and so thats something I really like vacationing so hopefully I get to do that,” Edwards said.

The seniors say they are sad to leave the BYU football program because of what it means to them and their teammates. They have all grown close to each other and to the coaches over the seasons.

“We’re gonna miss them. They’ve done a lot for this program,” said offensive coordinator Brandon Doman. ” The team will miss those seniors but the coaches say it’s a fun process figuring out who will rise up to be the new players each season.”
