Letter: Teaching the right

96

In response to “Home-ophobia? (11/15),” I would like to offer an opinion on gay parenting based on Latter-day Saint morals.

It seems you feel strongly homosexuality should not be accepted.

How then can you accept the controversial practices of homosexuals?

If homosexuality is immoral, how is homosexual parenting not?

Who will enlighten the children of gay couples about the sins of their fathers?

What about the neglect of commandments?

I wonder what the Apostles would think of “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” being twisted to support gay parenting.

Husband and wife, or man and woman, is mentioned 13 times in the proclamation.

It does not support gay marriage or parenting.

In reference to caring for children, you quoted: “Parents should … provide for their physical and spiritual needs.”

Which spiritual needs are homosexuals meeting?

A homosexual couple is not capable of fulfilling the mandate of Jesus Christ as given in the proclamation.

I strive to follow Christ’s admonition to love my neighbor.

However, I cannot condone the sin of my neighbor.

For the sake of the moral straightness of future generations, gay couples should not raise children.
